Coaching Partners

Assignments:

  • Week of April 18th, 2023

As you work with your coaching partner this week, look specifically at an aspect of Self-Love that is important and relevant together. See if you can use one (or more) of the strategies or pathways we looked at in class today: Work with a Patriarchal Message, Acceptance of Aspect of Self, Self Care or Relationship Plan

  • Week of April 3rd, 2023

If appropriate, work with your partner on their beliefs about time – use BYF, Re-Wiring, Resistance Archetype or another strategy we spoke about in class to go deeper. Save time towards the end for strategizing around time (tools for this are in the Part 2 Recording)

  • Week of March 28th, 2023

As you coach with your partner this week, notice the places where there is push and where the Mystery wants to be seen and experienced – either through letting go of something (big or small), creating more space, etc

  • Week of March 7th, 2023

When you coach your partner this week, take time towards the end of the coaching to discuss how your “client” will be accountable to the actions they want to take this with, co-design an accountability plan together. During reflections, talk about the different ways accountability tools came up throughout the session.

  • Week of February 28, 2023

In your coaching session, see if you can look through the lens of the Wheel of Self-Sabotage. Go through each of the 4 steps – Creating Awareness of the Wheel (your partner may already be aware because of our training call), Poke Holes on the Inner Level, Create Awareness around Resilience, And Break Pattern on the Outer Level. During reflection time, discuss what worked really well, what you could tweak, and what is feeling important about this process.

  • Week of February 21, 2023

When you coach your partner this week, look at what they bring forward through the lens of Perfection or Black/White Thinking. Use one or more of the strategies we looked at in class. Activate all of your Listening Skills, Creating Awareness Skills, and Questioning Skills as you do.

  • Week of January 24, 2023

Support your partner to identify an unhelpful belief and work on it together. If appropriate, practice a visualization around it! When you reflect on the session, take a look specifically at what worked well and what could have been shifted, as well as how client can continue to work with this thought during the week.

  • Week of January 17, 2023

This week, go deeper with your coaching partner around your resistances. Set the intention to get more clear on why the resistances come up (i.e. – what are the fears inside of the resistances?), how they function and impact you, how you can better relate to them, strategies for moving forward.

When you coach your partner, bring all of your understanding about Resistance, as well as all of your Listening, Questioning, Creating Awareness, Visioning and Strategizing Skills. And of course your Energetics!

  • Week of January 10, 2023

Look together at the family dynamics and projections in your container with your coaching partner. Coach your partner to become more aware of what dynamics they bring to the relationships in their lives and strategize on ways to move forward in those relationships.

  • Week of January 3, 2023

Have fun leading your coaching partner through a Befriend Your Fear Process. Keep in mind all 6 steps of the process as you move through it and remember to save time at the end of the “session” for integrating and strategizing. In the reflections part of your call, talk about how it felt to lead the process, what worked really well, and where are places you could have done something differently.

  • Week of December 13, 2022

We’re not quite ready yet to practice the Befriend Your Fear technique, so please use this week’s practice as a general coaching practice. Pay attention to all of your Foundational Coaching Skills – Energetics, Listening, Creating Awareness, Visioning and Strategizing. If fear does come up, think about Steps 1 and 2 of the BYF process and start there.

  • Week of November 22, 2022

This week, coach your partner on what came up in our session on Logistics, Systems, and Templates. Look at inner pieces that may be holding your partner back as well as vision and strategize around how they would like to move forward with Logistics in the Container pieces.

  • Week of November 8, 2022

Based on the vision you supported your partner to identify, support your partner to create a strategy towards that vision.

  • Week of October 18, 2022

Spend a full session supporting your coaching partner to create a Magnificent Vision for themselves. Use all of the foundational principles we covered in class.

  • Week of October 11, 2022

Continue to build your breakthrough questioning muscle. When you practice with your partner, see when it is possible to avoid asking yes/no questions. Take a moment to pause and craft the question you want to ask. And throughout the session, come back to asking yourself: what is the next awareness that I would like to create for me client? In your reflection time with your coaching partner, focus on the questions that were asked during the session: which ones worked well? which ones could be tweaked? which of the 4 levels of learning and processing were activated? what other areas of awareness want to be created?

  • Week of October 4, 2022

Continue to focus on your Questioning Skills:

While you are coaching –
1) Set the intention to ask mostly open-ended questions (vs. yes/no or multiple choice questions)
2) Take a moment if you need it to pause before asking a question to consider how you want to craft that questions/what words you want to use
3) If it is helpful, keep the list of coaching questions resource sheet in front of you to refer to as needed

While you are reflecting on the coaching –
1) Reflect on the questions that were asked – which ones worked? Why did they work? Which ones could have been tweaked? How would you tweak them?
2) Look together at the coaching questions resource sheet and pick 1-2 questions from the sheet that could have been asked – at what moment of the session? For what purpose?

  • Week of September 20, 2022

In this session, make space to think about & craft the wording of your questions before you ask them. Challenge yourself to not rely on consulting in the session. In your reflections, talk about which questions worked really well and which questions could be tweaked to be even better.

  • Week of September 13, 2022

Continue to practice and reflect upon the Creating Awareness skills we’ve been working on. If you want, pick one (Reflecting Hard Truths, Mirroring, Celebrating, Honoring What Is, Facting/Normalizing) to focus on in your session. Pick the one that is most on your edge.

  • Week of September 6, 2022

This week, continue to practice Creating Awareness Techniques. Practice Mirroring, Facting, Reflecting Truths, Honoring What Is, and Celebrating, as appropriate. During reflection time, discuss specifically the different ways Awareness was created – what worked well and what could be tweaked.

  • Week of August 30, 2022

Practice reflecting truths – hard ones as well as simple reflecting & mirroring. Use your listening skills as you hold space for your coaching partner and remember the question we looked at in class: What is my client NOT seeing, accepting or fully embracing that would create a shortcut to their growth or results? Experiment with the techniques we covered to create those awarenesses.

  • Week of August 2, 2022

Continue to isolate your listening muscle. Listen in particular this week to yourself as you listen to your client, and practice sharing some hunches you’ve got (after checking your filters first). In your reflection time, talk about what you both heard. If it’s helpful, go through the checklist of things to listen for and discuss each.

As part of the program, you have the opportunity to be paired up with a colleague in the training as a Coaching Partner.  You will be given specific guidance each call as to how to work together. This is required only if you are working towards certification, but I highly encourage it for everyone. It will really support you to master the skills you’ll be learning.

In order to make the most of your coaching practice time, watch this video I posted on Facebook (or, here it is on YouTube). It has very valuable information that will make everything more powerful for you.

Use the Coaching Partner Intentions form to set intentions for your time together. Share your intentions with your coaching partner. Revisit and update your intentions as you work together.

Here are some highlights/reminder to get the most from your coaching partnership:

  • Set aside 60-70 minutes for each buddy call
  • Plan on having 1 coaching partner call for (almost) every training call (or at least 2 out of every 3) that we have in Sacred Depths, preferably within a week of the training call
  • I recommend scheduling out ALL of your partner sessions in advance so that you have a container for your work together and things don’t slip (it can be easy to get off track with partner sessions if you’re not clear from the get-go)
  • Each partner will get 20-25 minutes to coach and 10 minutes for discussion, analysis and feedback
  • Each training call I will give you a particular focus or technique practice, based on the material we cover that week.
  • If you are ever unsure of how to start a session, start it with: “what would you like to receive from our time together today?”…and end with “What are you taking away?” (Remember back to Containers – think about how you will set and close your container!)
  • When you are being coached, come to the coaching as open as you can. Be vulnerable. Use the time for yourself. Both you and your partner will get the most out of it that way.
  • In the 10 minutes of discussion, analysis, and feedback time, answer the following questions with your partner: What did I do really well? What could I have done differently? What would I like to work on?
  • Treat these sessions as you would any paid coaching relationship. Honor your time, honor your partner’s time. Trust that this relationship will evolve over time as you get to know each other. And if you don’t click right away, that’s ok! It’s part of the experience of working with people. You can choose to practice with other partners in your cohort for additional practice as well.
  • If you have come to a point where you and your partner have completed your sessions and you would like to work with someone else from your cohort, please reach out to your group via the Facebook group to set something up! You are more than welcome to work with multiple partners.
  • While we want you to take these sessions seriously, they are meant to be practice; meaning you may make mistakes, and your partner may make mistakes (We all make mistakes!). Approach these calls with curiosity and openness and you will receive the learning and skill development you are meant to receive. You can create a comfortable container so that you are willing to not be perfect or expect perfection, in order to learn and grow together as practitioners.
  • From time to time, a conflict may come up with your coaching partner. (Human beings are sometimes messy!). Use all of your Sacred Depths Coaching Skills  – your Energetics, your ability to create awareness, your strategizing skills – towards conflict resolution. If you need support with this, reach out to caitlin@applieddepthinstitute.com.

If you are not paired with someone yet and you would like to be paired up with someone, please:

==> First, if you were not on the first call live, listen to the call recording (this is important!). You can find your call recording on the “Call Schedule” page

==> Then reach out to talia@applieddepthinstitute.com and let her know that you would like a Coaching Partner. The deadline has passed to request a coaching partner but we will do our best to find a Coaching Partner for you.

Please email Caitlin@applieddepthinstitute.com if you have any questions.
